Latino Network has a capital campaign goal of $18M to build La Plaza Esperanza, a new community center in Gresham’s Rockwood neighborhood.
More than $11,700,000 has been committed to the project according to the campaign progress update.
If they receive $2.7 million from New Markets Tax Credit Program, the organization would need another $3.6 million to reach its goal of $18 million.
Funding has been coming from private donations and the public sector which include the Oregon Lottery-backed bonds, the American Rescue Plan Act and Multnomah County’s general fund.
The new 18,000 square foot community center will be part of the Rockwood Campus in Gresham, Oregon, and will provide a wide variety of programming for all ages, including preschool, youth programs, gathering spaces for celebrations, events, community meetings, and festivals.
La Plaza Esperanza will be Latino Network’s first in-house preschool, giving free and culturally specific early childhood education.
The organization’s goal is to complete the capital campaign in time to finish construction in 2023.
