During the tense and chaotic withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan to end a 20-year war, 13 service members were among the 170 people brutally killed by an ISIS-K terrorist suicide bomber at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul on August 26, 2021.
Some of the fallen were Hispanic or Latino and all of the young service members gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
The U.S. Marine Corps posted a photo of caskets on Twitter, with this caption, “Flag-draped transfer cases line the inside of a C-17 Globemaster II Aug. 29, 2021, prior to a dignified transfer at Dover Air Force Base, Delaware. The fallen service members died while supporting non-combat operations in Kabul. Gone, but never forgotten.”
